Narcissistic Personality Disorder - Tips for Spotting and Coping with a Narcissist

People with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) have a grandiose self image because it lets them avoid deep feelings of insecurity. But sustaining their delusion takes work, resulting in dysfunctional attitudes and behaviors such as self-centered, arrogant thinking, a lack of empathy and consideration for others, and an excessive need for admiration. They're often described as cocky, manipulative, selfish, patronizing, and demanding.
Sadly, they're extremely resistant to changing their behavior, even when it’s causing them problems. Their tendency is to put the blame on others. Also, they're extremely sensitive and react badly to even the slightest criticism, disagreement, or perceived slight, which they view as a personal attack.
